Season’s Greetings! Weed had a brief moment of holiday glory when Walmart decided to sell a Christmas tree made up of fake cannabis leaves. They’ve since pulled the ad online but apparently, they are still selling their weed-leaf shaped cookie cutter, so breathe easy—and read on for more holiday gift recommendations for the stoner in your life (or, you)!
A Marijuana Christmas Tree at Walmart?
Say what? Walmart was selling a seven-foot tall, weed-themed fake cannabis-leaved Christmas tree for $249?! (Now it looks like they dropped the ad off of their website.) But still. File under cool or not cool? Here’s some of the corny ad copy where they *almost* bring up every weed cliché in the book (which we would never do, wink wink):
This Pot Leaf Christmas tree will “light up” the room and put your mind in the right head-space for holiday cheer. You’ll be able to relax and giggle at the marijuana leaves and decorate it as you please. This alternative Christmas tree is perfect for personal top shelf life at home or as a medical dispensary decoration. Green Wishes and Happy Holidhaze!
The “high” (sorry, had to) price of the Christmas tree prompted Leafly to do a pound-for-pound comparison of the weed tree…with actual seven-foot tall cannabis plant. Check it out here.
Pot Shop Raided for “Looping”
In a surprise that has Colorado’s pot industry on edge, eight Sweet Leaf pot stores in Denver and Aurora were raided by the cops as part of an illegal marijuana sale investigation. The stores were allegedly breaking the 1-ounce-per-person, per-day limits by selling unlawful amounts of marijuana via "looping"—when a customer comes in, buys an ounce, leaves the store and then returns to buy another ounce (maybe wearing a fake moustache or something). Twenty-six licenses have been suspended, and 12 people were arrested.
World Health Organization Says Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong with a Lil’ CBD
A recent report from the Word Health Organization’s Expert Committee on Drug Dependence found no evidence that CBD is bad for your health—and in fact, it’s actually good for you. Their conclusion, that CBD could actually help treat side effects for people with, like epilepsy, for example, “does not justify scheduling of cannabidiol,” which is at odds with the DEA’s definition of it, of course. Let’s hope they noticed.
Well, That’s One Way to Do It…
Watch this surveillance video from the Have a Heart store in Bothell, which features thieves crashing their car through the front of the store so they can rob the place. They stole thousands of dollars-worth of merchandise in four minutes, and carried it all out in garbage cans. The store lost over $8,000 just from the damage alone. If you’re around Bothell, show them some love (once they get their front door fixed).
Vice Makes Short Doc About the Seniors Who Tried Weed
We wrote about this in our Green Guide a few months ago, but looks like Vice has finally gotten around to making a mini-doc about the senior citizens who made a trip to Vela in March to learn more about the benefits of cannabis:
Yummy Gifts for Your Stoner Buds!
