Just as legalized marijuana is big business, the criminalization of marijuana is big business too. Private prisons, security, law enforcement, and the big one, the pharmaceutical industry... big profits, just to different people.

Great, but when will they apologize for Ketchup Chips?

Our government didn't legalise pot, they commercialised it for the wealthy to get richer, the prices here are ridiculously high, so most pre legalisation users will still be getting it from the grey market, which will end up with PoC, First Nations and poor people being prosecuted while white middle class folks can buy their expensive weed at the liquor store though, so that's nice.

What DOESN'T Canada do better than us?

If "better" is just about big corporation access to the market, then I disagree - that's a really unfortunate aspect of national legalization. Their commercialization is going to set the course of cannabis as a cultural phenomenon, because we haven't had time for that to develop in an authentic way yet.
