By this logic, you could argue it actually starts with beer. Since there's plenty of people that think alcohol should be banned as well, I wouldn't argue that though. Shit, maybe it starts with milk? Takes the edge off some of the side effects of heroin as well. I bet ALL of these dirty dopers drank milk in their formative years.

Are we still afraid of hip hop or are we back to being afraid of metal again?

Fun tangent: an acquaintance of mine's kid once brought a crack pipe to school. Turns out the husband was smoking crack. Kids do the darnedest things.

When kids get a hold of edibles, why rush them to the emergency room? Yes it's probably scary and uncomfortable for the both the kids and parents, but is there anything you can do except try and ease their fears until it wears off? Cannabis isn't acutely toxic so there's nothing to flush from the system. Obviously you want to be cautious, but I'm not sure there is anything for the hospital to do.

Kilmeade said he hangs around a lot of addicted people, knows so many of them. So he is immersed in drug culture apparently. Junkie.

@3 - Exactly. "I know people who..." is "this is how I think it probably happens but I have no clue."

@2 I expect everybody was covering their butt for liability and nobody was willing to stick their neck out to say "they don't need a hospital unless they're having a psychotic break." Shame, tripping in an ER is no fun at all. Goddamn the soap operas they play on those waiting room TVs rip the mask off appalling truths about society. And what if they play news programs at the poor kids. Take them home and read something with them.

It's almost as if they are too stupid to realize that the reason that there is violent marijuana "drug" running ruining people's lives is because marijuana is illegal. Here in Colorado, where it is legal to grow your own, people can't even give away all of their extra pot, so their is no profit motive for marijuana "drug" running. I say it's almost as if they are too stupid because with Fox News, you never know if they are just towing the Republican line or are actually just stupid.

2 An in-law made just such a trip to the E-room when Jr, age 2, ate one of daddy's candy. Nothing the hospital could do but "observe" until it wore off. I worried that CPS might show up at their house after that.

It wasn't a 'gummy', either. The damn fool put some additive on a cookie and guess who got it 1st?

When our "Prez" see this shit on FOX and Fiends, his favorite (interactive!) show. he's gonna come even further Unglued -- if that's possible. Too bad he fired the Marijuana's fiercest foe -- little Jefferey Noreguard Sessions, who knows a thing or two about what's Best for America:

Gotta be The Booze, right?

Oh, and Poverty currently leads the way to (Hard) drug abuse.

Oh, and speaking of marijuana vs. booze and violence,
here's former head of Seattle Police, Norm Stamper:

"Over the past four years I’ve asked police officers throughout the U.S. (and in Canada) two questions. When’s the last time you had to fight someone under the influence of marijuana? (I’m talking marijuana only, not pot plus a six-pack or a fifth of tequila.) My colleagues pause, they reflect. Their eyes widen as they realize that in their five or fifteen or thirty years on the job they have never had to fight a marijuana user. I then ask: When’s the last time you had to fight a drunk? They look at their watches."

@3,

Wait, are you suggesting that all those GOP legislators who have "many gay friends" aren't being entirely truthful? I'm flabbergasted!

I don't think I've ever seen Fox & Friends, but very much get the impression it plays not unlike a segment from The Onion's 'Today Now' variety show, which is always good times. Here the 'Today Now' crew with a child who discovered his own real life E.T.

And here I was, thinking that FOX had found in 'Gummies' a new slang term for The Dark People.

Most of what they said was indeed bullshit, but note that: pot is in fact both habituating and addictive—anandamide and dopamine receptors do change with prolonged daily use, and some small but non-zero fraction of users will become daily and even constant users. This has exactly the moral significance of my addictions to caffeine and an anti-depressant, but…

…one of the worst consequences of decades of negative distortions and out-right falsehoods about cannabis is that their rejection often becomes ignoring actual problems. For example, when I first started smoking pot I reached, after a couple of months, a point where if I were bored or sad I reached for the pipe seemingly automatically, and as I didn't want to be dependent on any drug and I was not getting necessary work done, that was highly undesirable. I stopped by stopping, which felt bad for a week or two, and six months later went back to it moderately; other people I knew did it constantly and became boring, though I also knew a few people who used daily and were productive and interesting….

What I am trying to say is that it is not a Devil Drug, but it is a Real Drug, and we oughtn't forget that no matter how often the evil or credulous exaggerate its potential problems—or in reaction indulge in silliness of the `It's not a drug, it's a plant.ʼ sort (as if lobelia, poppies, foxglove, and hemlock didn't have any down-sides). In this case, as the article notes, the important message 'Keep your cannabis edibles away from kids.' is drowned-out in a flood of nonsense.
