A memorial to the victims of the Portland murders. Suzette Smith

The long Memorial Day weekend brought tragic news from Portland, Oregon, where two good-hearted citizens were murdered as they tried to stop a man from allegedly committing a hate crime on public transit. Dan Savage, Eli Sanders, and Rich Smith talk about the Portland murders, whether we can directly connect them to Donald Trump’s rhetoric, whether Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler's attempt to shut down two upcoming “alt-right” rallies is the right response, and whether Kathy Griffin staging a mock beheading of Trump was a good use of her own free speech rights.

After that, Dan, Eli, and Rich sift through the news about Jared Kushner’s newly revealed role in Russia-gate (and process Rich’s attraction to Kushner’s shiny visage). Finally, because Rich was gone last week, a focus on a few “millennial issues” he wants to “bring to Dan and Eli's attention": drugs, climate change, and student loan debt.

Plus, as always, the music of Ahamefule J. Oluo.
