British prog-rock group Wishbone Ash play the Triple Door Sun. May 11. They were renowned in the early ’70s for their often searing, serpentine dual-guitar attack and deft ability to blend rock, folk, and classical music into catchy, interestingly structured songs. Their first three albums—Wishbone Ash, Pilgrimage, and Argus—are excellent additions to any prog head’s collection. I bet Television’s Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd had these LPs on their shelves.
Only one original member remains: the virtuosic guitarist/vocalist Andy Powell. He’s joined by Finnish guitarist Muddy Manninen, bassist Bob Skeat, and drummer Joe Crabtree, who’s played with Pendragon and King Crimson’s David Cross. Get more info about the show here.
