Seattle Fish Company, under new ownership as of 2012 and offering lunch and dinner among its ice tubs of fresh, lovely fish, is next door to Ma'ono in West Seattle, and it's doing it right. Smiling young men in coveralls or fish-themed T-shirts? Check! The exact right amount of fishy smell—not too much? Check! Incredibly friendly waitresses, the kind who ask if you're "actually fine or just-okay fine"? Check! Order at the counter—fish and chips, shrimp cocktail, especially good cioppino, great crab cakes, plus they'll grill any fish in the store. Then find a seat in a diner-style booth or a long row of tables, among the crab pots and buoys. The chef is Dave Harris, formerly of Other Coast Cafe and Chelsea Deli; everyone who works here is jocular and good-looking. Also, there's beer.
