SL Letter of the Day: Monogamous Week, Day 2.
@17 - What you said, plus:
For some reason, our culture can't sexually objectify straight men. Those that act like objects come off as emasculated or ridiculous. Think of the comedies poking fun at straight male sex work (Deuce Bigalow, The Full Monty). I can't see many people taking a straight male strip club seriously.

SL Letters of the Day: Campsite Rulers.
@4 - Agreed. I don't think the gender of the older person matters as much as conventional wisdom dictates. Women are as capable of manipulation as men; gender-inclusive abuse studies generally find that women are just as likely as men to psychologically abuse their intimate partners. While men apparently commit more violent crime, creeps seem equally distributed across the genders.

License to Kill Bald Eagles.
If you criticize the Arapaho for their irrational beliefs, realize that the offense you take to the killing of two bald eagles is also irrational. There is no reason for their lives to be more exalted than those of, say, a sparrow, yet CNN wouldn't be smearing on the hype if the Arapaho wanted to kill two sparrows for a religious ceremony. Bald eagles are not endangered; in some parts of the country they are as plentiful as blades of grass. We object because of our own sentimental attachment to eagles as a symbol. I totally believe in "live and let live" when the only thing at stake is the lives of two birds.
