In addition to being lying assholes, Don and the rest of the crew are also scam artists

@17 We threw out a mayor over a snowstorm. If the MPD did something horrific to the parks I have no doubt they'd be sent packing.

Remember, in addition to paranoid, these folks are also liars

This is not a scam to build an arena. It's a chance to undo some of the damage that was inflicted when I-747 was reinstated.

If the City Council wanted to blow public money they have a lot easier ways of doing it than this. Not to mention the public outrage, lawsuits, etc, that would occur.

The current levy system is inefficient, empowers the wrong people, and has starved our parks of money. Fuck it.

@3 Can't it be both?

If you blow up an apartment complex you should probably spend a little time in jail. Just because we don't have regulations doesn't mean you have to be a complete dumbass and endanger people's lives.

Nothing is stopping people from producing their extracts safely and in more appropriate locations.

"(I still don't understand the appeal of these services, when there are government-run, free book subscription services available almost everywhere in the country, but apparently some people like paying ten bucks a month to read a limited supply of e-books.)"

Because it is easier and more convenient.

@17 No it's not. There are rules in place and registration required. Which he repeatedly ignored and subverted over the couple month period in which he was regularly breaking into MIT.

Allowing limited guest access is not the same as granting someone license to break in, hook up multiple laptops, engage in rather sophisticated efforts to avoid restrictions and hid your identity, and download an entire database.

Might as well say that because Costco gives out free sample, I can sneak in after dark and give away all their food to the homeless.

@13 He was not affiliated with MIT, and even if he had been, he utilized JSTOR in a manner expressly prohibited by the terms of service.

Take a look at the indictment. He most certainly did not have a right to access the information, especially not in the manner he did, and took numerous affirmative steps to avoid detection and subvert efforts to stop him from his theft.

@15 He was offered a plea deal and declined

@10 Just because a room is unlocked, doesn't mean you can go in and do whatever you want.
Jul 10 giffy commented on Guest Editorial: Furious About Hobby Lobby? Take Back the Washington State Senate.
@6 Most every problem we are currently having traces right back to that cowardly vote. From funding education and transit to keeping our parks maintained.

We're doing the Republican's job for them.

Fuck if I am going to waste my time and money helping them.

His death was a tragedy, but he also did access computers that were not his, to acquire information he had no right to. That is and should be a crime.
