commented on Where Should I Buy a New Mattress?
You should be caring less about where you buy a mattress and more about the type of mattress. Sack up and get a TempurPedic. They really are amazing mattresses. You won't have to worry about any body indentations. Good sleep is worth it.

I normally come here to debate your social policies but you guys have been doing a lot of great work on calling out the police and their overreaching the past couple years. The libertarian in me is heartened by the common ground we share.

Return of the Alternative
In any system there will be powerful people and there will be people in charge of regulating it. Ideally you'd need those two sets of people to be different and, in theory, capitalism should allow this. The powerful people are the business owners and market makers. The regulators are the government. I'd argue our current problems stem from the powerful people having bought the regulators.
In a socialist system the powerful people will always be the regulators as well and that is why it is a far more dangerous system from the get go. Those in power will attempt to directly engineer the citizens and the class warfare you want will be truly fought in the streets. That's pretty twisted.

Nobody cares about climate change. The scientists and politicians will continue to work on solutions regardless of who believes in it. Is there any evidence that believing in climate change will change individual behavior? It would be very interesting to see a study done about energy use between people who believe that greenhouse gasses are bad vs those that don't believe.

Did this article ever answer the question it posed in the subtitle? From reading it twice, it sounds like this place ended up 80% white because that is the percentage of people who got up early one morning and waited in a line to be let in the door. Being The Stranger, that obviously can't be the answer the author is suggesting. Is she suggesting that when somebody moves out of the apartments the first-come first-served rule isn't adhered to? Or is she suggesting that non-whites simply do not know these places exist? Confusing.

Assuming the technical foul was for the kiss it really should only have been given to the gal who planted it. That would have been interpreted as a huge provocation in mens basketball.
