commented on Advertisement for $9,100 Per Month First Hill Apartment: "Become the Legendary"
I used to live in the building before it was sold. I lived on one of the lowest floors, not the penthouse. Looks like rent has more than doubled for the regular 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. I used to be able to (barely) afford it on my income, near median for Seattle. Now, not so much.
One crazy thing, to me, is that they ripped out the original wood floors to replace them with "wood-look vinyl." The bathrooms also were really nice vintage tile, which they've replaced with the blandest-possible contemporary synthetic materials. No more pink enameled bathtub! They got rid of all of the original mid-century design elements in their renovation.

I just finished David Neiwert's book "Of Orcas and Men," and highly recommend it. Really interesting look at everything we know about orcas both in the wild and the captive industry, particularly our own southern residents.

Not a sports blog? Sure, but there has been a lot of coverage of basketball and hockey, neither of which we actually have in this town. Even Seahawks news pops up on Slog every once in a while. It continues to amaze me that no one at the Stranger seems to be aware of the existence of the Sounders (except Callan Berry, apparently).
For those of you who don't follow soccer, Seattle is kind of a big deal in the world of MLS. Signing Clint Dempsey is a massive move, on par with Beckham joining the LA Galaxy several years ago. Woooo sports!
