@12 - dude, "liquid nails" is a type of glue. Not actual nails.

I don't think these opponents of Indigenous Peoples Day are bad people, but I do think they're demonstrating a lack of empathy and a fear of change that will eventually look thoughtless to future generations.

They already look pretty thoughtless today.

By the way, did you see that Yuri Scheffler, who controls SPI Group, is in Seattle right now (with his enormous yacht)? http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2…

Not a sports blog? Sure, but there has been a lot of coverage of basketball and hockey, neither of which we actually have in this town. Even Seahawks news pops up on Slog every once in a while. It continues to amaze me that no one at the Stranger seems to be aware of the existence of the Sounders (except Callan Berry, apparently).

For those of you who don't follow soccer, Seattle is kind of a big deal in the world of MLS. Signing Clint Dempsey is a massive move, on par with Beckham joining the LA Galaxy several years ago. Woooo sports!

What's really scary is that this is not someone who "fell through the cracks." It sounds like Joel had a strong community of friends who cared deeply about him and worked hard to get him the help he needed, and yet it wasn't enough.

I don't think an actual book deal was on the table yet. Literary agent Sharlene Martin announced that she would be representing the juror and seeking a book deal. The literary agent, a Mercer Island resident (seriously), backed out after the media attention and internet pressure.

Ha. I doubt Madison Park residents appreciate being lumped in with the Central District.
