commented on Seattle Times Strongly Urges Machinists Union to Do What It Has Already Said It Will Do
Yep, I don't know where Goldy is getting his report that a vote is scheduled. The last I saw Wroblewski said that there will be no vote because not enough has changed between this offer and the last. He sent an email out to the union saying as much.
Not only is the Seattle Times urging a vote, the Governor is asking for a vote being put forward to the rank and file, the Washington Congressional delegation is asking for the same, as is Mayor Stephenson of Everett. They are asking for this because none is scheduled and landing this airplane is vital to the future of the state.
While we all would want a pension plan similar to those common decades ago, it is not the norm and having the jobs, even if tied to a 401K, is more important than the pension. SPEEA (the engineers union) recognized this last spring and agreed to a contract that radically changed their retirement plan.
