Yeah, it's a copy of that.

@14 yes. That is amazing.

I keep checking this post to see if Fnarf weighs in. What is the protocol when one's arch-nemesis does a spectacularly good deed?

@4 I agree that "education" as a stand-alone strategy isn't enough to lift large numbers of families out of poverty. Communities need that PLUS access to jobs, access to transportation, safe neighborhoods, access to health, housing opportunity. SKC cities need to address all those sectors, but if our region can't take that on, no one in the country can.

As for the trades, they can be a good career pathway for some, there aren't nearly enough trades jobs for all the kids in SKC. 40% of the kids in King County go to SKC schools. In 5 years, 67% of all jobs in King County will require some sort of degree or post-secondary credential.

@5 It's certainly true that Kent and other local cities can be a great place to confront poverty, but money and services tend to concentrate in the central cities (Seattle) instead of in communities where poverty is highest.

Actually, poverty rose in Seattle over the past decade (up 14%). It just rose faster in SKC cities like Renton (87%), Federal Way (51%), and Auburn (90% +).

@6, that show has some of the best writing and acting on television, with the awkward exception of any scene with Chase in it. He's a comic albatross.

I have to disagree, Paul. The trailer makes you discover Raymond & Peter the same way most of us did pre-internet: hearing this crazy recording and having no idea what the hell is going on.

Also, yay for @5.

@16, 17, & 19 absolutely. Seattle (city limits) is actually one of the most racially segregated of the larger cities, and got LESS diverse over the last decade. The suburbs however are a very different story, especially the South County 'burbs.

The only thing that keeps me from declaring as a full-blown atheist is the hope that I someday might live in a heaven without republicans, mosquitoes, or celery. Vile stalks!
