Wrong again. I attended the city-hosted planning meetings downtown and in West Seattle. Judging from the public testimony, there was no question that West Seattle residents were overwhelmingly against the proposed waterfront tunnel, both as a squandering of taxpayer money and as an incompetent design with no exits or entrances connecting to downtown Seattle.

West Seattle was annexed in 1907, meaning it has been inside the City of Seattle for over a hundred years. When did you get here?

I read the ballot and voted to recognize gay marriage and guarantee by law that every married gay couple gets the same benefits and protections of any other married couple. I did NOT vote for simply converting domestic partnerships into marriages. There's nothing whatsoever to prevent gay partners from choosing to formalize their relationships with public marriage vows or a quick stop at City Hall to fill out the forms for a license. But Jeez Louise, if the State is going to turn every domestic partnership into automatic marriage, it might as well turn every current separation of married partners into automatic divorce.

Charlie Rose interviewed the outgoing and incoming NBA commissioners a while back and asked about Seattle getting an expansion franchise. The incoming commissioner Adam Silver suggested yes, and was immediately shut down by outgoing commissioner David Stern who said no. I personally don't much care about the NBA returning to Seattle, but anybody who does should probably wait a few months and hear what Silver has to say when Stern has less influence.

I wonder how long before House Republicans demand impeachment hearings based on glitches with the Obamacare registration website.

Remove the curtains or open them wide, then install inexpensive white mini-blinds set at an angle that best reflects the sun. If it's practical to do so, prop your hall door ajar so stagnant heat in your apartment has someplace to go (not that it necessarily will).

In other tax scams, the major US professional & college sports leagues rake in billions while at the same time they get public subsidies and weasel nonprofit status from the IRS, and pay approximately ZERO in federal taxes.

Except to the degree that getting asked the same question more than a couple times can intimidate someone into changing an answer, lie detector machine are bogus. Anyone remember the guy who got his conviction overturned on grounds that he'd been tricked into confessing after police stuck a kitchen colander on his head and "wired" it to a lie detector machine that was really an office copier?
