Isn't everybody sort of mismatched? And for some people, breaking up is really hard to do. It's not a casual thing.

I agree with #22 -- 'junk' is a poor word to use for anyone's genitals. They're anything but junk.

Many years ago I had a phone number which was a close permutation of a phone owned by a sex worker named 'Lucille'. How's that for a kinky relationship? I got some very interesting phone calls as a result -- maybe two or three a week. While some were pretty creepy, others were quite amusing, especially those who for some reason refused to believe they had called the wrong number, in spite of my gruff voice. (These I would sometimes play along with for a while, and perhaps some of them were playing along with my playing along.) I began to have fantasies about Lucille, not necessarily erotic ones, which were quite entertaining for me, and possibly for some of her mistaken clients, to whom I would relate such stories as 'Lucille's curious trip to LA and the odd things she did there with important people' or 'Lucille's Tasmainian great-grandmother who may have been a cannibal.' Of course I never called Lucille herself, because this would almost certainly have damaged the fantasies with the poison of reality. And of course Lucille never called me. I liked to think of her hearing about the other Lucille from her clients, though, and fantasizing about her, him, or it, whatever, out there in the darkness of telephone-land (for this was the old days when telephones were big black things that didn't light up, and the calls came at night, and we were way out in the eternal gloom of the burbs. Even there we were not alone.

Sic transit. One moves on, or away. Bon voyage, Lucille, wherever you are.

@55 -- Wouldn't it suffice to send a note which was sympathetic yet reserved, as one would do given another kind of business relationship? I'm pretty sure, given LW3's apparent sensitivity and intelligence, he could strike the right tone.

In regard to noisy sex: several years ago, some friends of mine lived in a big house which had several small apartments and single rooms with shared kitchen. It was highly permeable to sound. At one point a couple moved in who not only got busy at odd hours but seemed to be noisy to the point of competitiveness. I was over there once when this happened and it was really remarkable. Subsequently they would apologize in a manner which gave my friends the idea they were just rubbing it in -- 'We're bigger sexual athletes than you.'

So one of the friends was a sound technician. He recorded one of their sessions and set up some equipment. The next time after that the couple gave a concert, he set a large speaker out in the hall and played the previous recorded session at high volume. They stopped, he turned off his equipment, silence reigned. Not long after that the couple moved out.

I once lived among a people among whom inappropriate touching of another's erogenous zones in public, regardless of the supposed relationship, would almost certainly have led at least to a display of weapons if not something more serious. You can say they were savages, but I thought they had great self-possession and dignity. It probably helps to have some boundaries you're serious about.

@91, etc.: I have heard all kinds of stories about generational, ethnic, and class differences about preference or distaste for anal sex, but I've never seen any science. One story that seems reasonable, however, is that it was very popular for women in the 19th century (and earlier) as a way of avoiding pregnancy in the absence of better contraceptive technology.

Disgusted Big Bro has been told to mind his business, but I think it's obvious that the bride and groom, or at least one of them, made their three-way his business; otherwise, how would he have found out about it? We may guess as well that he takes marriage seriously in a conventional manner, which seems reasonable given its important legal and social consequences, and was disturbed by what he may regard as a flippant disregard for the event. In any case, he does not know how to relate to the situation. Should he smile and say 'Naughty, naughty', shrug it off, earnestly congratulate the newlyweds on their accomplishment, or one-up them with a pony? I'd be confused myself.
