Amalink is telling this butt munch to go fly a kite. Not taking $90 when I want $100 for the golf cart. Friggin' cheapskate.

I use self-checkout at the grocery store because I rarely go in for more than 1 or 2 things and standing in line behind people who have full carts, a load of coupons, and paying by writing a check is not how I want to spend my time. No one respects the 10 items or less sign either. And banal conversation with a over-worked, exhausted, and sometimes angry checker is torture.

I've been with my bf for going on 10 years and he has never said it to me. I say it occasionally and I told him a few years ago that I wanted to hear it, but he's stubborn. I guess as long as you feel loved that's really what's important.

I pre-ordered the album, thanks for letting me know there was a new one out!

I was a property manager for a house in Kitsap for a few years. I got a couple in there that were just amazing and I would bend over backwards, as much as my bosses would let me, for them. They paid their rent digitally and on time, they fixed the small problems they found, they told me about big problems and then were available for me to bring in a handy-man at almost any time. It was wonderful.
Then I had to buy them a dishwasher and to keep with the look of the kitchen I ordered one in brushed steel. My handyman installed it when it came in and he can be a bit of a joker. It had the saran wrap-like cover on the front and one of the renters was a little aghast that I bought them a blue dishwasher. He told the renter it was new 'blue steel' and very trendy. I got a voice mail from the renter in near tears about 'blue steel' then I got another when the partner came home and peeled off the blue. Wish I had saved those voice mails. They made the job worth the rest of the bullshit I had to deal with in the company. I miss those renters. Good people, they were like friends to me.

I would rather that either I leave no effect on the earth (scavenger is good or cremation) or that my body go to good use (science, the guy that plasticizes them for art, etc). but I always figured that I won't care as I'll be dead. It'll be my kid's problem and he knows how to be cool.
Sep 18, 2014 Amalink commented on Only 6 Percent of Workers on City Construction Projects Live in Seattle, Council Considers Local-Hiring Mandate.
I work for a construction company that does heavy civil and marine work. We bid on jobs all over the state. Our workers live all over Puget Sound. If a project takes them far enough from home we provide housing for them. But we don't tell them where to live. And we don't base our hiring practices on where they live either.
Also our company is based in Kitsap and we are moving to goodness-knows-where because there is very little industrial land left and it's disappearing very quickly. So the city is going to tell us that we can't bid on work for them because 1. we don't control where our crews live and 2. of where we are able to find space enough to home our large equipment and barges? Seems to me that this is another signal that these council members have too much time on their hands.
PS - we pay prevailing wages to all our crew and they are still broke at the end of the week. So it's no freaking wonder none of them live in the Seattle city limits.

I have a Nano that stays permanently connected to my alarm clock and is used every single night and morning and I have a 160G Classic that lives in my car. I sometimes drive for work all over the state and it's nice not to have to rely on CDs or radio when I move through huge deadzones and I like being able to download whole books (on tape) to my iPod and have something I can listen to for my entire trip. I was just crossing my fingers that they would put out a bigger Classic as I hate not being able to have my entire library on one device.

I just wish Seattle would just DO something. As a current Kitappalachian, and a native New Englander, I would love it if I didn't have to drive into Seattle every time I came across the ferry when I needed to go to the UW for the Dr, or Greenlake to see my brother, or Ballard to our current job site. It would be so much nicer to be able to walk on the ferry and catch a fast, reliable mode of transportation to where I need to go (ie not 45-75 minutes plus 2 transfers on buses that only run until 10pm)

If my PP was one of those that was protested (thank goodness I live in a blue state and area) I think I would go buy one of those fencing masks to wear while going in and out. I doubt you would get approached if they couldn't actually see your face.

Although I wish there was something to be done about the cretins that stand on busy intersections with giant posters of aborted fetuses. If I had a better throwing arm I'd carry a tupperware of rotten eggs for them.

Lewis Black also put out a request via Facebook (at least that's the one I saw) to not view the video on TMZ. It's not censorship to ask people to not view it. It'd be censorship if someone with authority over TMZ, like the gov't or their bandwidth provider, pulled the video down against their wishes or blocked it from view.
