Davie Brozowski
OCCUPATION: Drummer for Seattle's the Catheters.
EVENT: The Catheters play the Sit & Spin with the White Stripes and Fireballs of Freedom on Sat Dec 2.

You just had a tour.

"Yeah, it was a week down the coast."

How did everything go?

"It went really good. We were with the Gaza Strippers for four days--um, they suck. They've got the guy, Rick Sims, who was in the Supersuckers, and he's just a fuckin' chode. Like they would do encores without anyone asking. They wore these stupid little red hats."

What's a chode?

"You know what a chode is!"

No, I don't.

"It's the skin between your dick and your ass!"

Oh, right, a chode. Aside from that, how were the audiences and everything?

"The shows went really well for us. We went down because we got on a really good bill in Los Angeles, with At the Drive-In--it was at the Palace, so we built a little tour around that. We get more excited when we're on tour, so we play a little better. We play a lot in Seattle--we overplay, I think--and so it's better that we play for new people. And there was a pretty good response. There were a couple places where it seemed like the crowd was ours from being there a couple times, and that was awesome. A good feeling."

Do you get nervous before a show?

"Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. The first time we played the Troubador, I was really nervous. We were playing in the same place where Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe started out--you know, historic places."

You say you overplay yourselves in Seattle?

"Yeah, I think we play too much. You play to build a draw, but I think there's a point where--I mean, we put out a record, right? And we played, and have something of a draw. But I think we've gotten to the point where it's like, why see them this week, they're playing next week."

Why do you play so much then?

"Well, we've been doing it lately because we were in debt [laughs]. We went on tour this summer and went in debt, so we decided to play to make money to pay off our nice bill."
