The Moon is a haven for free-thinkers and one of Seattle's best—no, the world's best!—dive bars. With us since 1934, it's dingy but well-loved, and pretty much everyone is welcome on its barstools. Also: live music. And the annual Blue Moon Christmas Pageant might bring, for instance, a Peter Cetera cover band, a comedian doing a roast of Jesus, and a live set by Seattle’s only rapping prostitute; Jesus and Satan are always there, and there is midnight mass with Reverend Darnell Jenkins. As booker/U-District hero Jason Josephes says, "It counts as going to church, but it’s church with a bar, and that’s the best kind of church that there is."

really special place
one of the few 'real' places in seattle. the moon serves not only as a bar but also as a community service. i love it dearly.
