Green star College Inn Pub (University District)

4006 University Way NE
Seattle, WA 98105
(206) 634-2307

Subterranean both literally and in spirit, the College Inn is one of Seattle's best dive bars, resplendent with grubby, pubby appeal. Beers for every kind of person (snob to yob), pool and darts, worn wooden booths, and a fireplace are but a few of the attractions here. There is also the prospect, greater here than any other single place in the city, of finding yourself in a profound conversation with a complete stranger you'll never see again. And try the chili, for it is amazing.

Bull crap!!

I was reading what your pub represents and it is such bull crap! "find yourself having a conversation with a complete stranger" yeah right, it's more like if you talk to complete stranger you will find yourself getting jumped by 3 random guys!! and to top it off the people that WORK there and the people that are there "enjoying" themselves will watch and NOT call the police or even try to do ANYTHING about it!!!!

Nice work college inn pub you pride yourself with having the most IDIOTIC, SELF-CENTERED, NO CONCERN for human life EMPLOYEES, MANAGEMENT and customers!!!!!

My Favorite Happy Hour

The College Inn knows how to do it right, even if you aren't part of academia. I have been stopping in at the CI for years because you can always find a good micro, or slum it with the ever-present, and often-just-a-dollar Pabst Blue Ribbon. Now that I am a student again, it's remains a great spot because it fits the bill for my budget.
What's better is the variety of tables available - booths in the back that are out of the way, or up in front near the bar, fireplace and pool table and darts. The service is somewhat indifferent and the food is ho-hum but the bar, being free of banners for Budweiser and Miller products, is free from the backwards-hat regime that prefers these products. Bonus if you pedal to the College Inn - if you forget your lock, or are too cool to carry one in the first place - you can park your ride inside.

A fine place to drink and relax

The College Inn Pub is Callahan's Place minus the lovable scofflaws.

Feels like you shoulda been drinking there all night, instead of getting there around 12:00 because your douchey friend-of-a-friend wanted to hit some meat market further up the Ave.

It's chill and warm and very wooden.

The Only Place

Looking to get away from the annoying fratty college kids in the U District that populate bars further north on the AVE? The College Inn is just what you are looking for. A great beer selection, with several rotating weekly taps, awesome grinders (I like the Turkey), and really chill atmosphere, The Pub is a great place to play pool, darts, or get a group of your friends together for a night of drinks. With two rooms: one featuring mafia-like booths and a big screen quietly playing women's kickboxing (or soccer or golf) in the corner, and the other room featuring two pool tables, two dartboards, a jukebox, and open seating, The Pub is a versatile hangout spot for any occasion. Also worth mentioning: the people here are interesting and can carry on a intelligent a fun conversation - and aren't afraid to talk to you! I whole-heartedly recommend The College Inn.

Best Quality, Long History

I drank at The Pub in the early 1980's in my 20's. Now that I'm back at UW I'm back at The Pub in the 21rst Century. Great Place to relax, Great Place to eat, Great Place to study. -- And, Ohhh the Ales !!!!

clique city

the owner is well known among the regulars as he will often hang out, play pool, or have a beer. the clique here is friendly, but don't overlook that 80% of the people you see here know eachother. the grinders are perfect but i hate those chips. the candy machine at the bar is never stale. the best cider i've ever had was here. ladies: skilled hovering required in the restroom.

hard to go wrong

the college inn is a great place to meet people and grab a quick snack with the several pitchers of beer you're likely to have. a real original in the area - well worth a visit.

The perfect bar

Doesn't get any better than the College Inn. The beer selection is the best in the city, from the bottles of High Life to the rotating microbrew taps. The jukebox is famously great, and the pub grub is the ideal complement - the grinders and nachos are personal faves. The crowd is great - mostly grad students and similar folks. One of the place's secret weapons: it's a fantastic place to watch a game, especially during World Cup. But what makes this place stand out is the service. The waitstaff have been there for a while, and are as friendly and competent as you'll ever find. I can come in after not having been there in a few months and they'll still remember my name. They are amazing.

dark, creaky, ideal

Great beers, fabulously shippy, creaky ambience, not as smoky as it once was. Get a pitcher and hunker down for a lazy night with your weird friends. I had my 21st birthday party here, and it was ideal. One could imagine secret societies beginning here.
