It means "the crying pig," and the food is dished up cafeteria-style at this Mexican place. It's been around forever on the Pike Street Hillclimb; some people swear by the tamales. Also: homemade corn tortillas.

Are you kidding?

I went here thru a deal on 'Living Social'. The place is run down, windows were filthy, the place looks very shabby. Tables and chairs are old metal things that have been repainted and repaired about 30 times. Plates are chipped and worn, water was in a 'cooler' that had no ice. Food was mediocre at best. I was VERY dissapointed, and will never go back. Save your money and go to Taco Time instead. :-(

mi corazón

This place takes me back to Tampico. Delicious food, great prices, big prtions, lovely view. As authentic as you're gonna get outside of a taco truck.

Never disappoints

This is as close to a little restaurant in Puerta Vallarta as you can get in Seattle. As someone above mentioned, I too have been coming here since the eighties and it has changed little and the food is always consistently good. I always get the tacitos, you get three and my favorites are the machaca (stewed beef) and carnitas (stewed pork), they also have steak and chicken too. Their bean and rice are probably the best in the city, but I an conducting an ongoing survey just to be sure. Good news they have expanded the outdoor seating area.

Best Mexican Food in Seattle

I love this place!! The service is fast, the prices are low, the decor is low-key, and the food is delicious! The Carne Asada plate is the perfect size steak, the tortillas are homemade, and the salsa and hot carrots are perfectly spicy!

Holy Guacamole!

This place has been here forever! As in, I ate here in high school...in the '80s. The menu hasn't changed much. There are around 10 items to choose from, and they are all pretty good. The tamales and chicken tacos (or taquitos ?) are excellent. And in my opinion, they have the best guacamole in town. I can't even guess how many people I have brought here for lunch. If you are downtown and looking for Mexican food (not Tex-Mex), this is the best place.

NotSoVegeFriendly

Only one vegetarian choice on the menu, unfortunately. But the gaucamole was pretty decent.

Legit Comida

Easily the best, most legit fast Mexican food in central downtown. You got your homemade mini tortillas, house-fried chips, basic salsa/radish station, and always a few things simmering on the oven top, awaiting the move into the array of hotel pans along the service counter. The place is a happy hole in the wall, still amazingly outfitted with the same as always folding metal tables and chairs. Amazingly, the Llorones have never seen fit to replace the numerous chairs that fold open to beyond 90 degrees. Fuck that. I spend as much due dilligence selecting my chair as I do my food order. The bottled beer and soda selection is better than you'll see in many another place. Modelo Especial in a bottle? Yay! In nice weather you might catch one of the few outdoor tables and watch the tourists make their way up and down the Hillclimb. Even if you're sitting inside, the resident sparrows aren't shy about zooming in on you tossing them bits of chip or rice. This is the only place to stop on your way to the ballgame, ferry, stroll on the waterfront -- any activity where you drink a brew with lunch. It's quick, reasonably priced and it's solid.
