Green star Kedai Makan (Capitol Hill)

1510 E Olive Way
Seattle, WA 98122

Kedai Makan—from a former Ba Bar/Monsoon/Poppy chef and a former Cascadia/now Crush staffer who traveled (and ate) extensively in southeast Asia—makes really good Malaysian street food. It’s pronounced “kah-dye mah-kan.” They started out at farmers markets, and their tiny, take-out-only brick-and-mortar location is where Tacos Gringos used to be on Olive Way; take your food next door and eat it with a drink at Montana, if you like. Kedai Makan's mascot is a rubber chicken named Kevin.

Tasty, convenient, not cheap

The food was delicious and unique, it's awesome that you can take it into Montana and enjoy their beverages and booths, but it's by no means cheap street food. Also, as an eco-conscious diner, I was pretty bummed that there was no option that did not mean generating a bunch of waste, i.e. to-go containers, disposable cutlery, etc.
