Green star Lowell's (Downtown)

1519 Pike Place
Seattle, Washington 98101
(206) 622-2036
Website

Located in the Pike Place Market, Lowell's has unbeatable waterfront views on all three floors. They also serve excellent bloody Marys starting at 7 a.m., as well as traditional American fare—burgers, sandwiches, soups, etc.—including fine breakfast choices and decent fish and chips, chowder, and salmon. Rock stars, tourists, regulars, and locals all agree that Lowell's, at more than a century old, is a most excellent Seattle institution.

My daughter who lived here until 1969 still heads for Lowell's whenever she is in town. Nothing is better than sitting by the window and have a few bloody Marys and talk about the "It used to be.....". But Lowell' is still the same great place. Hope it never changes.

Better & Better Every Year!

I've been going to Lowell's off and on for years but mostly for drinks with friends and to eat from time to time while shopping at the Market and yeah, it can get crowded but it's worth the wait. (Plus I live way out in Bonney Lake now so don't get downtown nearly enough.) I finally feel I need to leave a review after their latest cool thing...FREE FOOD! I love the food anyway and there is always a ton but now they've added these great free "Blue Plate" special appetizers at Happy Hour...WOW! The appetizers are really great too...not the dried out "hot wings" type like you get at other places but scrumptuous gourmet goodies. Yum! Heading there now to enjoy the view, the free food and my friends...Lowell's makes the drive into downtown worth it!

Plesant

K I use to work near the market so I use to go to Lowell's for Breakfast quite a lot. Most times I took it to go, but a few times I sat and ate. The upstairs is great with it's amazing view... and the food (I got breakfast) is just like any other breakfast joint, so yea... it's good, it's not crazy good but it's good. The staff was always super quick with my food and pretty friendly no matter what it's a Seattle icon (it's in the market) and I think has been forever. It's great to bring friends too from out of town.

Busy tourist joint

If you don't get here around opening time, just forget about a comfortable or pleasant dining experience. The food is alright, at usual, slightly inflated tourist prices, but by 10 am there's just nowhere to sit, and the place has two levels of booths and chairs. Hope you like eating with strangers... if they'll let you sit with them. Let the tourists have this place.

Total tourist trap

but I drag all my visiting friends here as I was once taken myself. You get a lot of food depending on what you order. I've never finished a meal. I would only recommend going for breakfast. The lunch I had was fishy and soggy (salmon sandwich and fries) and I wouldn't have eaten it had I been given a choice. Good place to go with visitors for the "in the Market" scene and the view. Bad place to go because it's always busy and you can end up sitting in awkward places or waiting for quite a while. I'm sort of stuck at 2.5 stars, but I'll give them the benefit.
