All of the above

I love Smarty Pants. The other reviews are all accurate. The service is fast and friendly--except when it's not. Sometimes the server is overwhelmed, or not interested. Eh, we eventually get our booze and food. When she's there, our "usual" waitress recognizes us and knows who likes what beer and how long it takes before we need refills. Can't get better than that. The sandwiches have always been delicious, and the Bloody Mary really does rock my world. Brunch is amazing. It's loud, but who really cares.

BEST BAR IN TOWN

I love love love this bar. It has the most amazing food, the most AMAZING owner (TIM!!!), and the nicest servers ever! The person below me is on crack for writing a bad review. It's so fun to go on wednesday especially if you have a bike!

Bad Food, Bad Attitude

We used to be regular brunch eaters here, but the mediocre food was considerably less palatable after the amazing DJ who spun old school R&B left. When I say mediocre, I am really being quite nice, considering that one time we were served our brunch with a latex glove in it, and another time the toast was covered in mold. But, as we are Georgetowners and like to support local businesses, we decided to give them another try. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. After waiting 15 minutes at a table with dirty dishes, we finally got the server's attention long enough to get them cleared, but didn't manage to get menus or our drinks for another 15 minutes. We waited 45 minutes more for our food to come out, and when it finally did one scramble was missing the cheese. Not the end of the world, but when I asked for said cheese the server had the audacity to bring out cold cheese to add to the (now lukewarm) scramble! I was told the food couldn't be taken back and reheated with the cheese, and had to insist to then have the order re-made. At this point, I was too angry to eat so we decided to leave before any blood was spilled. Our server mumbled something close to an apology, and $2 was taken off the bill. It'll be a cold day in hell before Smarty Pants gets our business again.

Roaring Jets

Smarty Pants is a reasonable establishment with good food. Its wait staff while friendly are not amazingly service oriented. If you want water you go get it yourself. If you want a refill on your coffee you go get it. I hadn't seen our waitress in 20 minutes so I flagged down another to order a drink. While I did get a scowl she did put in my order without fuss. That said the food is really quite good. Their Bloody Marys are very good and their bacon martinis are really more of a novelty than something you want to drink but amusing anyway. Your conversation will be interrupted every ten minutes by a jet roaring overhead but hey what do you expect from Georgetown.

The after ten a.m. breakfast

For breakfast at Smarty Pants, even on a Saturday, a table awaits you followed shortly by a brimming Bloody Mary, pint glass running over with lime pulp and bloody goodness. No they don't open until 10 a.m. but you weren't really hungry yet, or even up for that matter on a Saturday, or is it Sunday. It's a deeply satisfying feeling to sit next to table that has already emptied a pitcher of PBR, while you swig the spicy and anticipate one of SP's famous Troublemaker Pile-up breakfasts. Or perhaps like me, you prefer a tasty breakfast burrito, or even good 'ol buscuits and gravy. Whatever you order this morning, it will be great. Your waitress has attitude, but she's smiling when you order your second mary as she refills your coffee, again. This is damn fine breakfast!

yum!

The B.E.L.T. changed my life. And the potato salad aint half bad either. Now I don't mind picking people up from the airport, 'cause I always make them take me out to Smarty Pants.

Let them wear the pants

Great spot for sammies and drinks - also brunch on the weekends. Great feel in the place, and the Troublemaker sandwhich is to die for. They also have a deck, which is a must for me. No kids around, either :) MMMMM.

Kickin' Sandwiches

I live on Capitol Hill and though I don't get to Georgetown that often, when I do I always go to Smartypants. They have the best most GRUBBIN' sandwiches in town. Even when my family visits from California, they always ask to go there! I've never been dissappointed in the food or the service. Fabulous!

I LOVE SMARTY PANTS

This happenin' little joint has THE BEST SANDWICHES in town. Peroid. My favorite is the Chickenhawk, but the Troublemaker, Scamp and the simple-but-delish Turkey & Avocado are great, too! I don't think there's a better scoop of potato salad around, either. It's too bad SP doesn't have air conditioning, but the expanded patio is nice in the evening. Otherwise, this place is perfect

Generally Great

The sandwiches are awesome, and there are some lighter items if you're not in the mood for a big ol' meat-piled something or other (I recommend the hummus plate). A couple of not-so-hot things: my boyfriend and I went over to get dinner while we were having drinks at the Nine Pound Hammer, and it took upwards of 20 minutes to get our food because our ticket didn't get to the cooks (so we were starving at the counter, watching them fill mustard bottles). Then that night, my boyfriend got food poisoning and blamed it on the sandwich (though he still admits it was a kick-ass sandwich). So, I recommend it, despite a couple of hitches.

Troublemaker? You bet!

Great great great sandwiches - the Troublemaker is the best sandwich in Georgetown, maybe in the city. And I think they make a breakfast version for brunch. You could have a Troublemaker 3 times a day. And I might.

Best Bloody Marys

Walk into Smarty Pants on a Saturday morning and it feels like the continuation of an awesome Friday night. It's a bar, with good music and rad servers. Welded art decorates the walls, and it gets a good crowd on Saturday morning. Their spicy made-to-order Bloody Marys cure my hangover every time, and several of my friends swear they're the best in town. I eat there almost every weekend because it's only a 15 minute drive from where I live in the CD, there's no trouble parking and I've never had to wait for a table. The food is unpretentious and tasty, the portions are generous, and the people who work there are genuinely friendly. They have an outdoor patio for warmer weather.
