Green star Stumbling Goat Bistro (Greenwood)

6722 Greenwood Ave N
Seattle, WA 98103
(206) 784-3535
Website

The Stumbling Goat is a cozy neighborhood restaurant with a purist philosophy resulting in a small, restrained, frequently changing menu that’s been committed to local and organic ingredients for a looong time. You might think you could cook this stuff at home—and if you’re awesome, you can—but the careful focus on each ingredient and its true flavor makes the food exceptionally good (and you don’t have to do the dishes). Service is that rare combination of affable and also rigorously adept. Additionally: a back lounge.

Get some liquor? Heat Lamp?!

I'm sorry, the Goat most certainly DOES have liquor, and it absolutely DOES NOT have heat lamps. Never has, never will. Until Arby's gets it's liquor license, I believe you'd find yourself more comfortable at the Mecca. They've even got a jukebox for you, bro!! (Sorry, yes I AM friends with the owner. Yes, that other review DID make me angry. Perhaps this IS off topic.)

Get some liquor, hippies

The food is alright, I guess. Lots of green things and organically grown vegetables prepared in ways that ultimately befits each entree. Magnifique! But it's a total chick restaurant, right down to the wait staff flirting with every woman in there. One time, our waiter was held up for a good 15 minutes "entertaining" a gaggle of "cougar women," while our steaks sat under the heat lamp. What gives? Also, they have maybe three bottles of alcohol in the whole place. Do not go for mixed drinks or adult beverages besides wine.

NW cuisine, perfected

The room at the Stumbling Goat is comfortable and flexible, suitable for casual fine dining or a romantic meal. If you care to quiz the attentive staff, they have detailed knowledge of the local and sustainably raised ingredients. Fellow diners have been attractive and affable. And while I'm gushing, the PacNW cuisine menu has never disappointed me or any of my friends. Unreservedly recommended.

Love It!

You can't beat a neighborhood bistro that is totally consistently wonderful. If you can then I'd like to hear how. The small menu is well thought-out, the wine list perfectly balanced, and the atmosphere cozy. I've taken visitors from out of town there several times and everyone is envious of my neighborhood. The chicken is amazing and succulent. Order it, but ordering anything else has also been as good.

Always Great

I've been here many times and never had a bad meal. The seasonal menu is fantastic, and their purveyors are among the best in town. The Wagyu beef and heirloom pork offerings are transcendently good, and the garlic laden roast chicken is perfect comfort food.

Oh My Gosh

This place is highly variable -- it can be unbelievably outstanding one night, merely outstanding the next. Oh, man. Perfectly prepared everything, great service, friendly people, brilliant wine list. Attractive room as well. More than I usually like to spend, but there's NOTHING in this part of town that remotely compares to it.
