THURSDAY 9/11

JK POP! GOES TO HEAVEN

And now the bad news. Our favorite (and only) night dedicated to that peculiar fusion of Japanese and Korean tunes the kids are calling "JK POP!" soon shall be no more. (Sniff!) Here's a little memoriam by DJ Bishie, who created the night: "Yes, it's true. We've decided to box up our glow sticks, sparkly outfits, and video projectors. JK POP! has been happening for almost 3 years (!), and what started as a little dance party at a basement venue in Pioneer Square has become a fixture of Capitol Hill nightlife as one of the most diverse, welcoming dance nights in Seattle (still in a basement, though!)." But, why, god damn it, why?! "I'm working on a bunch of different music-related projects (with my Noddy bandmates)... I'd rather end now on a high note." And so farewell to JK POP!—get your big gay fanny out there to say good-bye. With DJs Bishie and Hojo. Barboza, 9 pm, free before 9:30/$4 after, 21+.

THURS–SAT 9/11–13

BENDELACREME'S TERMINALLY DELIGHTFUL

I know! How we have longed for her. How we have pined! Forever, it seems, since we have been graced with the actual in-person company of our darling BenDeLaCreme (aka BenDeLa, aka DeLa, aka perfection in a wig), which makes sense, as she has been from hell to breakfast and back again doing all sorts of fabulous things. (I mean, after the whole RPDR season six thing, naturally, in which she was CLEARLY ROBBED.) Most importantly among these fabulous things is of course her NYC smash hit, Terminally Delightful, which closed there only days ago. Now, now, calm down! There is no sense getting all pissed and riled at her because she chose to premiere her show in New York instead of with us here in Seattle, so try not to take it too personally. She had her reasons, I SUPPOSE. (Hmph.) But finally! She is back in Seattle's loving arms, where she damn well belongs, and she has brought her new show with her and it's BenDeLa at her best: original songs and dances and smart, self-effacing laughs. Three measly nights only! (Hmph.) Oddfellows West Hall, 8 pm, $25, all ages.
