I've been so busy this weekend slamming wine coolers and wondering why Republican Bill Bryant won't talk to the Stranger that I almost forgot to remind you guys about something super important: You need to register to vote. Like, RIGHT NOW.

In order to vote in the August 2 primary election, you have to register online by July 4.

To register online, you need a Washington State ID or driver's license. The registration form is right here. It takes five minutes. You can keep drinking while you do it.

If you don't have a Washington State ID, you'll have to register in person, but you can do that until July 25. That happens at the King County Elections headquarters in Renton or the King County Voter Registration Annex in downtown Seattle.

If you don't currently have a residential address, you can use the address of a shelter, park, RV, intersection, or "other identifiable location." You can receive your ballot at a shelter, friend's house, or by general delivery at the post office. If you want help keeping your address confidential, click here.

If you're a non-citizen, be aware of the risks associated with registering to vote.

While the August primary ballot won't have the presidential race or Sound Transit 3, it will have a whole bunch of other important local stuff, including the city housing levy. The primary will also help us narrow a long list of state and federal races to the two candidates who'll go forward to November. In other words: This is the ballot we use to get rid of time-wasting idiots like Goodspaceguy (he's running for governor this time around).

After you register, here's what happens next:

Our endorsements come out July 13.

Your ballot shows up in the mail soon after.

You vote the straight Stranger ticket and don't ask questions.
