One of five films in the running to receive a new score by a Northwest band/musician for NWFF's Puget Soundtrack series.

Northwest Film Forum and Brick Lane Records have linked up to offer a $2,000 residency for a Pacific Northwest group or musician to compose a live score for a film in NWFF's excellent Puget Soundtrack series (past editions have included Newaxeyes and Alien, Ecstatic Cosmic Union and The Dark Crystal, and Erin Jorgensen and Daisies). NWFF and Brick Lane are opening voting to the public for the film that will receive the brand-new soundtrack. The five films on the ballot are Belladonna of Sadness, La Haîne, Wizards, Eraserhead, and The Holy Mountain. Once the winning movie is determined, musicians will have a chance to submit their scores to a panel of judges: Sharlese Metcalf (KEXP/False Prophet/DJ), Erik Blood (musician/producer), Kelton Sears (Seattle Weekly music editor), and Susan Maughlin Wood (Seattle Composers Alliance). The voting closes July 28. Check out an explanatory video of the program and the films under consideration after the jump.
