The Latest on the Sikh Man Who Was Shot in the Arm Last Week: The Seattle Times reports that the police in Kent, Washington are searching for a stocky white male who allegedly approached and shot a a Sikh man in his driveway. The Sikh man, who is 39-years-old, told the police that the shooter repeatedly yelled: "Go back to your country." Saturday saw his return from a hospital that successfully treated the wound on his arm. On Sunday, a number of community groups gathered at Crossroads Park in Bellevue, Washington's first major minority-majority city—due in part to immigrants from India—and denounced the shooting and the recent spike in hate crimes across the country.

Last week, a white Kansas man was charged with shooting three men, two of whom were Indian, and one of whom (an Indian engineer) died. It is reported that the Indians, who were thought to be from Iran, were also told to get out of the country. This shooting happened a few weeks after President Trump issued an executive order that banned Muslims from legally entering the country. Many Americans, however, do not know the difference between Sikhs and Muslims.

Four Anti-Trump Protesters Arrested During Pro-Trump Rally in Olympia: They were booked "on suspicion of assaulting an officer," reports KIRO. The protesters allegedly threw an "unknown substance" at a cop, who was later treated at a hospital. The rally, which took place on Saturday, was one of many rallies across the US called the Spirit of [White] America. Some of the people at the pro-Trump rally in Olympia carried guns, or waved flags, or gave speeches about how Trump is giving the government back to the [white] people.

How Is Trump Giving the Government Back to the People? If we are to believe the New York Times, and many do not, it is by eliminating rules that protect citizens from the greed of Big Business. One such rule cut by Trump required "giants in telecommunications, like Verizon and AT&T... to take 'reasonable measures' to ensure that their customers’ Social Security numbers, web browsing history and other personal information are not stolen or accidentally released." Another eliminated rule punished Wall Street banks for taking "extra money from customers to cover potential losses from certain kinds of high-risk trades that helped unleash the 2008 financial crisis." With this rule gone, bankers can make risky bets, make lots of money, and when things go bad, make the public pay for their losses. Another rule that has been removed made it hard for people with a history of mental issues to buy guns. Indeed, this elimination will open a huge market to gun sellers. Most sane people do not buy guns.

Thousands Marched on Saturday for Black Lives Matter: Because Trump is in power does not mean BLM is over. Also, the event, which began at Seattle Central College, lasted for several hours, and dwarfed the Spirit of [White] America rally in Olympia, included a wide range of important issues, such as Trump's racist immigration policies.

Seattle On the Verge Losing Millennials? After Jon Talton of the Seattle Times read a recent poll showing that 45 percent of millennials are considering leaving Seattle for cheaper places, he wrote a long and mostly unhelpful post about his own youth and some of the decisions he made when faced with tough choices. But all the post needed to say was this: Housing in Seattle should not be expensive, and only the government can provide affordable housing. That's it. No need for so much wind.

The Problem Is Not That Housing Is a Commodity But Much More Importantly It's a Financial Asset: You do not store cash in a commodity like a microwave oven or an egg beater. But you can do precisely this and more with stocks, bonds, and property.
