Capitol Hill Block Party announced this morning its partial lineup, including political hiphop powerhouse Run the Jewels, chameleonic EDM superstar Diplo, and LA folk-rockers Lord Huron as headliners. Now in its 21st year, the event happens July 21-23 in the Pike/Broadway area of Capitol Hill. Tickets are on sale now here: Three-day passes go for $135 (tier one, while supplies last)/$150 (tier 2), single-day passes for $60.

As per tradition, the lineup is a mix of popular styles: hiphop (Danny Brown, Run the Jewels, Noname, Mykki Blanco, Lizzo), rock (Sloucher, Cherry Glazerr, Kyle Craft, Whitney), electronic (Diplo, Manatee Commune, Austra, Zoolab), and singer/songwriters (Angle Olsen, Julie Byrne, Perfume Genius). However, metal seems not to be well represented, nor does techno or more abstract styles of electronic music; maybe artists in those genres will appear in the next lineup announcement. Jazz-fusion bassist/guitarist/vocalist Thundercat is perhaps the most anomalous figure on the bill, but his connections to Kendrick Lamar and Flying Lotus—as well as his interesting music, of course—assure his name recognition.
