Funhouse/El Corazon co-owner Brian Foss informs us that another Italian band, Biffers, has been denied entry into the US. The pop-punk group were slated to play Victory Lounge March 18 (Foss helps to book that venue, too), but Biffers apparently had the wrong kind of visas. When they discovered the error, it was too late for them to apply for different documentation, so the members knew they were taking a risk. But unlike the recent incident involving fellow Italian band Soviet Soviet, they weren’t led away in cuffs to be interrogated for several hours.
In a Facebook post titled “AMERICA DIDN’T WANT US!” the Livorno-based band wrote: “We are flattered by all this attention by the government, we are really delighted! We never thought we would receive so much consideration, after all we’re just a bunch of weirdos with guitars… We can’t even [complain] about how we were treated by the officers, as they have been so nice and kind to us, after all they were only doing their job protecting their beloved country from the threat of four dangerous musicians planning to play some gigs in bars and party with crowds of thirty people, spending a lot of money in plane tickets, gas, van rental, accommodation and food. How mean is that?!”
Biffers were placed on a plane to London over the weekend, but they promise to reschedule the entire tour soon.
