Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park, has died. He was 41. According to the gossip news site TMZ, Bennington committed suicide by hanging, and was found in his home in Los Angeles County.

Hybrid Theory (2000), Linkin Park's debut album, was a mainstay for most angsty teenagers who grew up in the early naughts. In 2012, the album surpassed 10 million sales. The band's most recent album, One More Light, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts that May.

Chester Bennington was friends with Chris Cornell and posted an emotional letter on the day of Cornell's death.
