People living in 154 homes near Cle Elum were ordered to evacuate by Kittitas County officials as a wildfire moved toward their homes, KOMO News reports.

Half of these homes were people’s main residences, while the other half were cabins and vacation homes.

So far, the Jolly Mountain Fire, which was started on August 11 by lightning strikes, has burned over 9,000 acres, with 3,000 acres burned just on Wednesday. The most recent flare-up was the result of winds, and “the hottest and driest two-month period on record,” officials told the Seattle Times.

Meanwhile, huge areas of Oregon are also burning up. As of yesterday, over 4,500 people in the state have been evacuated. As with the hurricanes, climate change is only going to worsen wildfires around the world.
