Who got your vote for mayor?

Cary Moon.

Why?

If I had to pick the primary theme, in a lot of mayoral debates, Durkan came across as a politician trying to play the politician game. It seemed like she was aiming to be a politician rather than change the city. I appreciate the more wonkish approach Moon has.

City Council Position 8? Teresa Mosqueda or Jon Grant?

I voted for Jon, I think.

Sheriff?

I voted for Mitzi, largely based on the allegations against Urquhart.

Mayor?

Cary Moon.

Why?

Cary Moon and Jenny Durkan are kind of similar, but the big difference is on homelessness. And I think Cary Moon has a better direction. I think Jenny Durkan will maintain the status quo, which means people will still be sleeping outside and not have access to shelter, and that is inherently, I think, the worst.

City Council position 8?

I voted for Teresa.

Why?

I actually worked with her on the minimum wage campaign. Nothing against Jon [Grant]. I think they'd both be excellent. When I worked with her, she was able to communicate what it was like being a woman of color while getting work done at the same time. Personal experience is so important. She's a fighter and I want her to fight at the city.

What about sheriff?

I didn't vote for either of them.

Tell me about that.

I think it's pretty obvious why I didn't vote for the incumbent. But I couldn't vote for [Mitzi Johanknecht]. I heard she was against safe injection sites, and I think, second to homelessness, the heroin epidemic... My brother is addicted to heroin. It's ridiculous that people who are addicted don't have access to safe consumption sites. I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of them.

Who got your vote for mayor?

Cary Moon.

Why?

Mostly about homelessness.

What about the Position 8 City Council race?

I can't remember at the moment.

Sheriff?

I voted against Urquhart, is one way to say it.

Who got your vote for mayor?

Jenny Durkan.

Why?

I think she has appropriately moderate progressive values, which I share. I think she has the best way of interacting with business and government agencies, and she won the endorsements of people I trust.

Like who?

Christine Gregoire.

What about City Council Position 8? Teresa Mosqueda or Jon Grant?

I believe I voted for Teresa Mosqueda. I didn't follow that race too closely.

Sheriff?

That was tough. In the end I voted for Urquhart. I thought he was a bit more moderate than the other choice.

Who do you want to be mayor?

Cary Moon.

Why?

Her stance on urban planning.

What about City Council? Teresa Mosquada versus Jon Grant?

I voted for Teresa. I wasn't really sure either way. I went with Teresa after reading the voter packet.

Sheriff?

Not the incumbent. I forget the name.

Do you remember who you voted for in the City Attorney's race?

No, not really.

I'm from Federal Way.

Oh, who got your vote for sheriff then?

Not Urquhart. The other person.
