Thanks for shattering my last nerve.

  1. I live in Indiana and love seeing them – we live near a military base where they do a lot of live-fire testing/training and occasionally get to see the bombers doing runs though we hear the artillery testing about weekly . Then again, the noise doesn’t really bother me or the cats (though the ear-plugs are a must if you are at one of the shows).

  2. @47- “But only 3 fatals in 2 incidents in the past 20+ years. Safer than urban bicycling.”

    Per capita? Certainly not.

  3. @53 — Certainly not? How many fatalities would you expect in 150+ man-years (7 pilots x 22 years) of full-time urban cycling?

    That’s 150 man-years x 365 days/year x 50+ miles/day per occupational rider (conservatively) – call it 3 million miles, so around 1,500 collisions, maybe 20 fatal? (YMMV)

  4. Not sure if you’ve ever heard a baby rabbit scream, but all of my rabbits were screaming every time a blue angel flew over head. I am powerless to do anything and it makes me want to punch someone. They have to be in a lot of PAIN to scream like that. I want to punch a Blue Angel for being a bully.

  5. Ever heard a baby bunny scream from pain? If not, you should have been at my house when the Blue Angels were flying over. There was a terrified chorus of baby bunny screaming in my back yard. I feel violated. I want to punch a Blue Angel in the face.

  6. You might be interested to know that Jubilation T. Cornball was once a prolific and humorous commenter on Slog, until one day, while bending over to suck the limp dick of a toothless old alcoholic in the men’s room of a tacky gay bar, he slipped in a pool of santorum and hit his head on the toilet, resulting in a large amount of blood loss. He disappeared from Slog for a while, and then recently came back, apparently brain damaged, obsessed with Fnarf, and incapable of making anything other than repetitive, tedious and definitively un-humorous comments. We miss you, Jubie.

  7. @54- Those are some really weird numbers you’re trying to work with, and they’re certainly not fatalities per capita. This is really simple: 10% of the Blue Angels have died on the job. 10% of urban cyclists don’t die while cycling, the number is far, far lower.
