tUnE-yArDs’ music is so good you’ll overlook the caps situation. Brainchild of Merrill Garbus—who “contains in one person the finest attributes of Captain Beefheart and Phoebe Snow,” as critic Robert Christgau wisely ventured—live tUnE-yArDs involves Nate Brenner on bass and Garbus on drums and vocals, supplemented by Garbus’ intricate, crafted-on-the-spot drum and vocal loops. It’s an amazing thing to behold. Google “tune-yards gangsta live in minneapolis” and see a cell phone video that will make a believer out of you.
