Occupy Seattle has a People of Color Caucus because racism exists everywhere—not just everywhere except among well-meaning activists. (One point of debate: Would another word have done better than the colonialist “Occupy” for this movement?) Now, aiming to elevate race consciousness across Occupy and draw underrepresented folks into the movement, the People of Color Caucus, along with Hip Hop Occupies, will lead a march and an arts-based rally tonight. There will be 20 local DJs, MCs, b-boy/b-girl crews, speakers, live art, and surveys to identify local demands. The march from SCCC to Westlake starts at 4:30 pm, opening statements downtown are at 5, and performances begin at 5:30. (Westlake Park, 401 Pine St, www.hiphopoccupies.com, 5–10 pm, free)
