‘Pee-wee’s Big Adventure’

Why: So many ’80s movies don’t hold up on further investigation: The Monster Squad, Red Dawn, Conan the Barbarian. But Pee-wee’s Big Adventure improves with each passing year. Somehow, Paul Reubens made a perfect road movie composed entirely of quotable, memorable moments. You can study this movie, monklike, for decades and find new moments of sublime beauty every time; I defy you not to laugh when Pee-wee makes his ride off into the sunset after performing his “Tequila” dance. That shit gets me every time. (Central Cinema, 1411 21st Ave, www.central-cinema.com, 7 pm, $6 adv/$8 DOS, all ages)
