The Intelligence

After winning a Stranger Genius Award for music in 2011, the Intelligence hunkered down in Seattle and Los Angeles—the two bases of operation for band leader/poet laureate of wry self-deprecation Lars Finberg—with two distinct groups and finessed into existence the Intelligence’s seventh album, Everybody’s Got It Easy but Me. Tonight’s the release party for this exhilarating collection of the Intelligence’s most melodically sophisticated and sonically diverse songs yet. There’s even a delicate, orchestral ballad, titled with typical Finbergian wit “Techno Tuesday.” (Crocodile, 2200 Second Ave, www.thecrocodile.com, 8 pm, $12, all ages)

Of course they won a Genius Award... THEY CAN BARELY PLAY THEIR INSTRUMENTS. Seattle just doesn't care for technical virtuosity, does it?
