Seattle sculptor Nola Avienne once took the blood of her subjects for an art project; she will get under skins. Shes one of four artists now responding to the bitey theme of teeth at SOIL, and the objects shes made are scarier than Jaws. Hairy teeth, it turns out, are haunting as hell, even when theyre pretty (the hair Avienne uses are delicate brown iron filings). Also in the show is Jennifer Zwicks Bouquet with Condoleezza: a photographic portrait of vases of pretty flowers covering all but the former secretary of states perfect, glistening teeth.
