Cartoonist Peter Bagge, creator of the fantastic comic Hate, comes to Town Hall to promote his new ambitious project: an illustrated biography of Margaret Sanger, the early-20th-century sex educator who founded Planned Parenthood, popularized the term “birth control,” and was arrested after opening the first birth-control clinic in the United States. Bagge’s dramatic illustrations, wryness, and humanity shine through this work, which deftly pays tribute to the feminist visionary while also addressing her not-so-heroic side, like her purported support of eugenics. I’ll be on hand to interview Bagge about comics and feminism. (Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Ave, townhallseattle.org, 7:30 pm, $5)
