Just like you can enjoy marijuana without being a goofball stoner, you can enjoy gardening without turning into a hippie-dippy earth mother (or one of those die-hard nerds who starts planting snow peas while it’s practically still snowing). Seattle Public Library has been hosting gardening 101 classes at branches around the city—today’s is in Lake City—to help you get started. A low-stakes, low-expectations garden is a great excuse to step away from your computer and into the sunshine. The fresh vegetables are a bonus.
