Morgan Thorson, Low THEATER / ON THE BOARDS
Morgan Thorson, Low

Transcendentalism is the idea at On the Boards this weekend—dancers, clad in white, will move in two modes (slow/meditative and violent/ecstatic) to live accompaniment by Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker of the indie-rock band Low. "There's coherent songs and stuff that's just chaos," Sparhawk said in an interview with the Onion. Minneapolis-based choreographer Morgan Thorson has drawn from American traditions of monasticism, shape-note singing, and sacred dancing (as well as Low's minimalist music) to make this piece, ambitiously titled Heaven. (On the Boards, 100 W Roy St, 217-9888. 8 pm, $24.)
