'St. Nick' FILM
'St. Nick'

Now in its fifth year, the Rawstock Short Film Festival has grown from a scrappy showcase for local filmmakers to a well-established—thanks to ACT's Central Heating Lab—mini-fest of shorts from all over. This year's barely-a-short centerpiece and towering highlight: David Lowery's St. Nick, an impeccably artful 70-minute study of two kid runaways in Texas. Imagine a nearly wordless Stand by Me as directed by Terrence Malick and you'll get a sense of its tough, sweet magic. (ACT Theatre, 700 Union St, 292-7676. 8:45 pm, $15.)

the biggest political fight that will bring us nothing. I've said it before on here and let me repeat myself: America can have ONE of two things. We can have our military empire or you can have health insurance reform (this ISN'T healtcare reform btw) and fix social security so it will be around past next July.

YOU DON'T GET TO HAVE IT ALL ANYMORE!! And guess who gives the most money to Congress?

Okay, so I live across 8th St. from Town Hall.

There is a demonstration going on and someone has a megaphone, leading chants. FOR health care reform.

Why? I mean, I'm on your side... but why is Howard Dean's speech on First Hill (in *favor* of fucking *health care*) a good opportunity to demonstrate?

What do I want? Evidence that you are not idiots. When do I want it? Now... or whenever you see this.
