Five bands can be a lot to endure if you’re not an underage ball of
hormonal energy, but this show will be well worth it. Not only for the
variety of opening acts—from Flexions‘ brooding tropical
dub to Strong Killings‘ classic punk/hardcore to Shearing
Pinx‘s arty thrash to the Raggedy Ann‘s rural rock—but
for headliners Japanther, whose fuzzed-out sing-along anthems
and unrelenting blasts of bass and drums can invigorate even the most
past-their-prime punks. (The Vera Project, Seattle Center, 956-8372.
7:30 pm, $9/$8, all ages.)
