Didn’t even need Anthony Hecht and Brad S. (emeritus) to rub my face in it. Sheesh. Could not have been more wrong. Have good company: EVERY writer in both the Sun-Times and the Trib picked the Bears. If it weren’t for the pass interference call on the first Bears drive and the Hester punt return in the fourth quarter, this “contest” would not have been deserving of the name “game.” Seattle dominated on all fronts. I might Slog a full-scale consideration of the contest tomorrow, or I may just cry myself to sleep. Or I may have another beer. Or twelve. Luckily, no internet connection where I live, so I cannot drunk-slog this. . . . travesty of a debacle of a disaster.

  1. Have good company: EVERY writer in both the Sun-Times and the Trib picked the Bears.

Come on, you can do better than relying on Chicago sports guys? Hometown guys always pick the home team, unless they’re really doomed.

  2. Way to man up… being a longtime Seahawks fan, I was happily shocked to see them show up in such fashion in a 10 AM road game against a good opponent… Lynch helps out tremendously, BMW has sticky fingers, and Hass did what he was supposed to do…

  3. I don’t bother picking games, however I’m not surprised in the least the Hawks won today. This is a very different team, so all those predictions based on east coast starts, etc, meant nothing. They finally ride themselves of the last vestiges of Ruskell’s incompetence over the bye: Jones & Branch. They finally had a power back, which meant opponents couldn’t just shut down the pass. The Lynch trade was huge for Seattle & made all predictions of how they’d perform moot.

The biggest part is that the Bears were ripe for upset. The holes in their offense were big, and hand’t been exposed yet. They were over-confident and were looking ahead at Washington. I thought this was a true toss-up and like Peter F indicates, no one gave Seattle a shot, which I thought pretty dumb.
