  1. Riding in the rain isn’t so bad with a rainsuit and brakes and tires that work. Riding in the COLD rain and being rearended by a vehicle whose brakes and tires do not work are other stories…

  2. Without a rain suit, it kinda sucks. With a good rain suit, it’s only the car drivers that are an issue at that point. Unfortunately, drivers in Seattle are horrible, and horrible x 10 in the rain.

  3. Yes it does. The rain drops hit your face like little bbs. The saving grace to riding year round in the Northwest is the feeling of inner superiority over that majority of riders who only venture out during the dry months.

That said, I do have to admit that I am happy that there are far fewer wet days here in San Francisco than I was used to in Seattle.

ps: California people drive in the rain like Washingtonians drive in the snow. It ain’t pretty to watch.

  4. In Seattle, if you don’t ride in the rain you don’t ride. I rode year-round when I lived there, and it really was not a problem if you had decent gear.

  5. Well it was no big deal. I did it for an hour straight last year (knowing it was going to rain). But I love rain… I was wet and needed to change once I got home though.
