TONIGHT

Mayor Mike McGinn meets up with C.R. Douglas tonight for another round of Ask the Mayor. There’s about 15 ways you can submit a question, either live or in advance. Rumor has it that the mayor really enjoys a good marijuana policy question. (Watch on Seattle Channel or online, 7 p.m., free)

Green Lake Community Council welcomes councilmembers Sally Bagshaw and Tom Rasmussen (PDF) to talk about proposed budget and service cuts at the local community center. Will city leaders be able to hold the line that crumbled so easily in Queen Anne? (Chapel at The Hearthstone, 6720 East Green Lake Way N, 7 p.m., free)

THURSDAY

It’s Veterans Day. In Canada, they call it Remembrance Day and wear red poppies. Don’t get any ideas, de Quinceys of the world—those are not the same poppies you find at your local opium den. Veterans get a free burger or cheeseburger at Dick’s Drive In.

FRIDAY

The Washington News Council hosts their twelfth annual Gridiron Dinner, which is a big, exciting fundraiser with journalists, councilmembers, and other bigwigs mingling. Mayor McGinn will introduce the five former Seattle mayors they are toasting. Note: Paul Schell will not be there, but a cardboard cut-out of him will still get a roasting. (Washington State Convention Center, reception starts at 5:30 p.m., tickets are fucking expensive cost $150-$7500)

SATURDAY

The ACLU of Washington celebrates their 75th anniversary with a Bill of Rights Celebration Dinner. The headliner is Aasif Mandvi from The Daily Show, even though special guests Dan Savage and Rick Steves are cooler. Attending this event is the perfect way to prove you aren’t just another lame leftist who stopped caring about torture, due process, and “targeted killings” once Obama took over for Bush. (Marriott Waterfront Hotel, 2100 Alaskan Way, reception starts at 6 p.m., tickets are $75 here)

SUNDAY

The Seahawks play the Arizona Cardinals at 1:15. If Whitehurst is starting again, this figures to be three hours of unwatchable, bush-league incompetence by both teams. Celebrate the end of Four Loko in Washington by taking a shot every time someone punts.
