The arts have led the way in reminding America about the continuing heartbreak of New Orleans. With this four-part reading series, local events planner Bob Redmond creates an artistic bond between Seattle and New Orleans. Tonight’s performance pairs Louisiana-based authors like David Rutledge and Asia Rainey with Seattleites including novelist Jonathan Evison and cartoonist Megan Kelso, along with music by Robin Holcomb and Les Chattes Créoles and food by Tom Douglas and Where Ya At. It’s an ambitious cultural exchange program that benefits a nonprofit doing investigative reporting in New Orleans—a very literal example of art bringing truth to light.
