Tina Fey was awarded the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor last night. And here’s what she had to say about Sarah Palin:

“And, you know, politics aside, the success of Sarah Palin and women like her is good for all womenโ€”except, of courseโ€”those who will end up, you know, like, paying for their own rape ‘kit ‘n’ stuff.’ But for everybody else, it’s a win-win. Unless you’re a gay woman who wants to marry your partner of 20 yearsโ€”whatever. But for most women, the success of conservative women is good for all of us. Unless you believe in evolution. You knowโ€”actually, I take it back. The whole thing’s a disaster.”

PBS viewers didn’t get to hear Fey’s remarks about Palinโ€”PBS edited them out. Well, that’s not entirely true. PBS didn’t edit out the part of Fey’s acceptance speech where she thanked Palin. PBS says it wasn’t political, the show was running long, they “snipped from everyone,” blah blah blah.

In other Palin news: turns out her new TLC “reality” show shoulda been called Sarah Palin’s Faked Alaska.

  1. Bruised by screwing up yet another personal relationship, I’ve been consoling myself watching every season of 30 Rock. She’s a titan, a goddess, and that she should be considered dangerous enough to censor is terrific.

  2. I like what Cher said about Sarah Palin in Vanity Fair.

    Now that was spot on.

Now for sale on Internet – nude body scans by TSA of Sarah Palin!

  3. If they “stepped on” a lot of other comments, it would be interesting to see a full list of what was said and what was dropped across the board.

If this is the Mark Twain prize for American Humor, then they eviscerated what was probably the funniest poke in the acceptance speeches ๐Ÿ˜›

  4. The Sara Palin stuff was funny, but the rest of her speech got stronger laughs. At 14+ minutes, I don’t thin there’s any real conspiracy here that it got cut from the broadcast.

    Tina Fey is consistently fantastic.

  5. Most of the rest of her speech was way funnier. And I’m sure it wasn’t the only part of her nearly 15 minute speech that was cut from the broadcast. Not everything is a conspiracy.

  6. This was far from the funniest part of the speech. Besides, it’s not exactly a big secret that Fey is not politically sympathetic with Palin…

  7. @4 i love the hair!

eh it obv was a bad call to cut it but it was sort of a break in tone at the end there, i think stewart or possibly olbermann made an apt comment about PBS preferring to be boring…
