BBC:

A dance troupe from the US state of Florida has caused a terror scare in New York City after leaving their cars in the Lincoln Tunnel and running to make a TV appearance in Manhattan.

The dancers, who were wearing camouflage costumes, hit heavy traffic in the tunnel after driving roughly 1,000 miles (1,600km) to the city.

They were scheduled to be on the BET network programme 106 & Park.

The team missed the show after police chased them and closed the tunnel.

Fame, I want to live foreverโ€”light up the sky with my name. Fame! When will I, will I be famous? I can’t answer that. I can’t answer that. When will I see my picture in the papers? I can’t answer that. I can’t answer that. This opportunity comes once in a lifetime, yo. You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow.

  1. OK, I get the whole driving from Florida to New York thing, but what kind of fucking moron cuts it so close that a traffic jam will screw up everything? It’s New Fucking York – the whole Goddamned city’s one great big traffic jam.

  2. So the drivers were part of the troupe as well? Were they just gonna look for parking in midtown?

You gotta admit, it would have been a good story had they just barely made it and performed while still out of breath from the mad dash on foot through bumper-to-bumper traffic. Instead, they learned in exactly what way life is not like television.
