I went to a special showing of this in undergrad held by my university’s film appreciation society — Julie Taymor attended and answered questions. It was pretty great.
Holy hell, I saw this at the Cinerama, lucky me! You had to mention the fucking twig hands.

@3: Yeah, seeing it there was pretty great. The production company that Paul Allen owned/owns (or had his hand in) did the movie, so that’s why it was lucky enough to play at the Cinerama. I think only a handful of people went to it there though.
Saw it at Cinerama, bought it, watched it 12 more times or so. Titus is one of my favorites. I wish I wasn’t working.
This is an awesome movie– everything you’d expect from a great modern Shakespeare production: the best cast, direction, sets, costumes, based on a script the average 8th grader could have crapped out during recess.
Also, the opening and closing sequences make absolutely no sense: they were attached to make the film appear “Millennial” during that last little bit of the 90’s when everything had to reference the significance of A NEW MILLENIUM!!! Because a new millennium is REALLY IMPORTANT!!!
The two rapey Visigoth brothers absolutely steal the movie. They are hilarious.

I don’t really remember the closing sequence, but the opening one almost made me stop the DVD and return the movie. So incredibly pointless.

I totally missed this in theaters, and only stumbled across it by accident at the video store a few years ago, and rented the DVD. I thought it was awesome.
I wish I could go tonight and see it on a big screen, but sadly I have other plans.

Clear Blue Sky was the Vulcan/Paul Allen production company. He supposedly is listed as exec producer in the credits, per the wiki page.
GNAAAH, those twig hands have haunted me since my one abortive attempt to watch that film.
I love the dining scene at the end… And such a tasty meat pie too!!! They should have that challenge on Top Chef!!
